8" Fujian Tea Bonsai Tree (also known as Fukien Tea)
Light and Temperature
- Light: Place the tree near a bright, south-, east-, or west-facing window to provide several hours of direct or indirect sunlight daily.
- Temperature: Keep temperatures above 50°F to 60°F (10°C to 15°C); bring the tree indoors if outdoor nights drop below 50°F.
Watering and Humidity
- Watering: Keep the soil moist but never waterlogged. Water thoroughly until it drains from the bottom of the pot whenever the topsoil begins to feel slightly dry.
- Humidity: Maintain high humidity by placing the pot on a humidity tray filled with water and pebbles, or by misting the foliage regularly.
Feeding and Pruning
- Fertilizing: Apply a balanced liquid bonsai fertilizer every two weeks during the spring and summer growing seasons and reduce feeding to once a month or every six weeks in winter.
- Pruning: Pinch or trim back new shoots after they grow about 6 inches or reach 6 to 8 leaves, leaving 2 to 3 leaves to maintain a dense pad shape.
Repotting
- Frequency: Repot every two years in the early spring using a well-draining, moisture-retentive soil mix (such as Small Grain (3–7mm) Bonsai Blend).
