The Trident Maple (Acer Buergeranum), often grown in temperate climates as an ornamental tree, has a rich history of cultivation. It was introduced to Japan at an early stage, where it earned the name "China maple." Its introduction to Europe and North America followed in 1896, where it can now be found in various parks and large gardens. Notable examples of mature Trident Maples can be observed in England's Westonbirt Arboretum, the Esveld Aceretum in the Netherlands, and the Arnold Arboretum in Boston, Massachusetts. This species is also highly favored in the practice of bonsai due to its adaptability to techniques that encourage leaf size reduction and intricate branching, making it suitable for various bonsai styles and sizes.
