Juniperus procumbens "nana" is a type of low-growing evergreen shrub belonging to the cypress family, Cupressaceae, and is native to Japan. It shares a close botanical relationship with Juniperus chinensis, the Chinese juniper. As a low-growing shrub, they typically reach a height of 20–30 centimeters (8–12 inches), and occasionally up to 50 centimeters (20 inches). While its height remains modest, it can spread significantly, often covering 2–4 meters (6.5–13 feet) or more in width, with long, trailing branches. These branches often intertwine, creating a dense, mat-like structure.
