Tokoname-Yaki is one of Japan’s “Six Ancient Kilns,” meaning it is a location of the oldest and most significant pottery traditions in the country. Tokoname pots are known for the durability, light weight, and ability to age well, often developing a unique patina over time.
History and Evolution

- Specialization: He is known for blending traditional techniques with his own artistic style.
- Family Tradition: Born in 1973, Juko grew up in Tokoname and inherited the Koyo kiln from his father, Koyo. While he continues the family business and maintains the catalog of his father’s pots, he also produces his own bonsai pots under his own brand.
